Novak Djokovic – Denis Shapovalov (Head-to-Head)
Novak will face Denis Shapovalov in the second round in Shanghai on Wednesday not before 6:30 PM local time (not before 12:30 PM CET).
The last time they played was in Rome this year where Novak won in straight sets.
Novak and his doubles partner Filip Krajinovic beat the fifth seeds Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies 6-3 3-6 10-3 and reached the second round.
Novak beat John Millman 6-3 6-2 and won his first Japan Open title, his fourth title this year and his 76th career title.
Novak: “It was a fantastic week. I didn’t drop a set, I played really well. I felt great on the court, felt very welcomed by the Japanese people, off the court as well. Just overall, a great experience. I’m going to Shanghai with great confidence and hope I can finish the year in style.”

Novak is looking for his fourth title this year, his first title in Tokyo and his 76th career title.
Novak beat David Goffin 6-3 6-4 and reached his first final in Tokyo.
Novak: “I’m very satisfied with the way I’ve been playing the whole week. It’s been a very positive week on the court, off the week as well. Hopefully I’ll be able to crown it tomorrow with a trophy.”
